The concept is fine, back to the days (again) of 'dumb' terminals.

But will anyone answer what happens when the cloud is uncontactable, the internet not available, or there are data release breaches?

This is not a one-size fits all solution and to many corporates it is an even worse scenario of all the eggs and the chicken in one basket.

Does anyone ever apply an element of common-sense or strategic holistic thinking? The issues and consequences are serious enough to always merit inclusion in the debate.
