Broadband wireless to top $17bn by 2005

US broadband wireless subscription revenues will exceed $17.7bn by 2005, gaining $15bn in the next five years, according to a new report by IGI Consulting (IGIC).

'Wireless Access 2000' charts the precedent-setting growth rate of US broadband technologies which, according to the report, is "matched only by the explosive growth of the television in the 1940s".

The report documents the growth of wireless revenues from $313m in 1999, forecasting a dramatic jump to $8.5bn in 2003 then doubling to 2005.

The report also examines market issues and competing technologies - such as xDSL, cable modem, satellite and FTTB. It also looks at new technologies - from Cisco and Wi-LAN - and details the activities of companies involved in the broadband wireless marketplace and the standards bodies and associations associated with the industry.
