Yahoo! has ended a two year partnership with search technology provider Inktomi in favour of technology from Google.

Yahoo! said the switch to Google was because the company had been able to provide high grade technology that kept up with internet expansion.

However, Inktomi will continue to provide technology for the new corporate information portal launched this week by Yahoo.

Following the announcement on Monday Inktomi shares fell by over $25 on Nasdaq.

Dick Pierce, CEO of Inktomi, said the company was disappointed to lose Yahoo! as a customer and would seek to win it back.
