Boots and BT have become the first major customers of BT MarketSite, a British business-to-business ecommerce portal.
The service, launched last month by BT and US ecommerce vendor, Commerce One, allows firms to access, place and track orders from a range of sellers using a single Web site.
The firms say they hope to make significant cost savings by automating supply-chain transactions. A BT spokeswoman said the telco aims to use the system for 95 per cent of its indirect procurement by next March.
