In brief: Waitrose to offer Net-based delivery services

By Julian Goldsmith

Published: 9 July 1998 17:30 GMT

Supermarket chain, Waitrose, has launched a delivery service aimed at businesses.

Staff will be able to use their company intranet to order groceries which get delivered to their place of work at the end of the day. The process has been trialled at ICL Retail Systems' head office in Reading. Its first customer will be British Airways.

The software that allows workers to order Waitrose goods online was also developed by ICL. Customers must have a corporate intranet to make use of the service.
