Cops spend £5m on secure access
The big IAM

The National Police Improvement Agency (NPIA) has signed a £5m contract with Siemens.

Under the deal, Siemens will supply the NPIA with a secure access system.

The system, known as the Identity and Access Management Central Services (IAM CS) infrastructure, is set to be up and running by early next year.

The infrastructure will allow police officers and support staff to get secure remote access to police systems across different forces, cutting down on the need for police officers to return to the station. Better information sharing will also be enabled by IAM CS, according to the NPIA.
