Computer Associates has announced it has acquired a security product from privately held mainframe security company InfoSec for an undisclosed amount.

The software, called eTrust Cleanup, is for managing password access to mainframe systems.

The company's program is designed to identify user names and passwords that are no longer being utilised.

CA said the InfoSec software will help its customers comply with industry regulations for administering employee information and securing mainframe access. For the past two years, CA has resold eTrust Cleanup as a third-party product.
