Entrust puts faith in IBM mainframes
PKI vendor Entrust today announced an interoperability agreement with IBM's mainframe operating systems OS/390 and z/OS.

The agreement allows Entrust's authorisation software Entrust/PKI, which manages digital certificates, to be used from the browser to IBM's servers. IBM's LDAP Directory Server on z/OS and OS/390 is also interoperable with the software which hosts the repository software for digital certificates.

Andrew Armstrong, VP Northern EMEA at Entrust, said: "Digital signatures can be managed from the browser to the back-end, which allows mainframes to be utilised as part of a secure infrastructure."

Jose Lopez, analyst at Frost and Sullivan, said: "Many of the major players need to offer security interoperability in order to convince customers they are fully compliant with companies' IT infrastructure."
