RealNames hit by credit card hack

RealNames has become the latest victim in a series of Internet hack attacks which have left credit card details exposed.

The Internet keyword company noticed last week that someone was redirecting its keywords to a Web site in China - something that would only be possible if the intruder had access to the company's customer database.

According to Keith Teare, CEO of RealNames, there is no evidence that the credit card numbers were stolen from the database but said the company is playing it safe and is warning its 50,000 customers that their details may have been compromised.

RealNames has called in Internet Security Systems to conduct a full audit of the site and add a second firewall.
