I agree that users are much more likely to remember an image than a fixed string of digits, and that visual hints like that background are very useful.
But after watching The Money Programme on Friday, I wonder if this technology might be rather less applicable than gridsure? They too use a visual shared secret, but use it to create One Time Passwords. Gridsure is a technology that could be used almost everywhere, while these pictures are limited to touch screens and will suffer all sorts of problems with making sure that we use the same strokes to create the picture.
