Hopefully 2007 will be the year of encryption, preventing further data loss. I for one would like my details to be kept secure. Enrypted laptops and other devices are exempt from the US laws on data breaches as with laptops where the entire hard drive has been encrypted, the data remains secure. Its relatively easy to do and worth the investment, as your article points out.
