Security professionals have been telling upper management this for years and getting nowhere, I got a budget increase after 9/11 and now that there has not been a network worm outbreak since sasser/slammer, everything has been very quiet and the funding dried up Think of it as bleeding to death from a thousand tiny cuts, each one does not hurt very bad but all together they can bleed a corporation dry. Encryption software on laptops? This is a no fucking brainer and it has taken until 2006 to figure this out? No, Security professionals have been telling management this for years and getting the cold shoulder. The execs are going to have to fess up and admit the reason corporate America is getting raped is due to their incompetence.
