Well the Updates announced themselves a bit early, Tuesday evening 11.10.05 in UK, I elected to download, the icon vanished from the system tray and the process appears to have died.

I have seen this before. Why on earth cannot MS do what everyone else does and have some kind of indication as to what is going on. Expecting users to sit and keep passing the mouse pointer over the icon in system tray does not constitute a sensible method.
