Boards MUST take responsibility for the 'security' of the IT systems that increasingly supply their companies with business-critical information. One reason that they don't/won't, is that this issue is invariably portrayed as a recondite technical issue which shoould remain in 'IT anoraks' domain. In fact electronic security failure is only one, and not by any means the worst, reason for 'information denial'- the real issue. By ignoring this range of causes, and refusing to implement the range of policies that only they can implement, Boards are increasinly laying their companies - and themselves - open to failure and prosecution. This company, Kemble, exists to help directors first to recognise their resonsibilities, then develop the appropriate policies for their companies.
