This story does not reflect the realites of RFID. It really says more about the poor understanding of RFID, the many types of tags, etc, than shoplifing.
RFID is not "plug and play". CIO's sould be wary of experts with wild claims.
If you beleive this story, then everyone in Wal-Mart and the DoD who is working on RFID deployment is stupid, and failed to think about even basic issues.
Not a bet I'd make.
