The H variant of the Klez worm continued to plague email users worldwide in September, accouting for neary 60 per cent of all virus activity.
It was carried by one in every 341 emails, according to statistics from anti-virus specialist MessageLabs.
The company scanned over 196m emails, of which 12m contained viruses of some sort. The US (36 per cent) and the UK (28 per cent) took the brunt of this activity. Companies oeprating in the sports, entertainment, leisure and retail fields were the most prone to attacks.

The Bugbear worm - which started spreading rapidly today - will undoubtedly make it into the October top 10.
