Five of the world's largest producers of flash memory cards have created a standard to make secure shopping and banking easier.
Hitachi, Ingentix, Matsushita Electric Industrial, SanDisk and Toshiba have announced the Mobile Commerce (MC) Extension Standard.
The companies - collectively calling themselves 5C - say the advance will enable flash memory cards to be used for new applications relating to secure data transfer and related activities like making e-payments.
