Microsoft is to lend a helping hand to home users in an attempt to clamp-down on dodgy passwords and other vulnerabilities on their PCs with new scanning software.
The company plans to make its Baseline Security Advisor available for download free of charge on its website.
Using a wizard, consumers - and networks administrators - can use the Windows scanning software to weed-out weak passwords, unpatched programs and operating system vulnerabilities.
Last year was a major embarrassment for Microsoft as one security flaw after another reared its ugly head.
