Domain name authority Icann has appointed a new security chief.
Stephen Crocker will be in charge of a committee that will ensure the security of the global Domain Name System (DNS) runs smoothly. Crocker will also be chairing the soon to be announced Icann Security Committee.
Crocker, who was involved with developing the original protocols for Arpanet, the first version of the modern internet, will head a group of 15 to 20 Internet security experts from around the world.
