Open source software portals Sourceforge and themes.org have been cracked by hackers.
Sourceforge told how it was forced to reset all its users' passwords. A statement posted on the site, said: "A security compromise affected one of the SourceForge.net project shell servers. SourceForge.net staff detected this intrusion, took the compromised system offline and executed a forced password change for all users who had made use of SourceForge.net shell services within the time frame of the security breach."
Themes.org's site has also been defaced by hackers. The site was replaced with a message that they were experiencing fairly major technical difficulties. The replacement featured a graphic logo and a page not found error message.
At the time of writing the site was still down.
The Apache Software Foundation, another big open source player, admitted yesterday that one its web servers had also been compromised.
