PKI specialist nCipher today announced Visa as the first major customer to sign up for its Secure Execution Engine (SEE) technology.
Published: 9 April 2001 15:49 BST
Visa will enable its smartcard holders access to online services using nCipher as a trusted authentication agent through the SEE technology.
The java scripted SEE builds on nCipher's nShield and nForce product range used to generate faster throughput in secure web servers and PKI applications.
SEE secures active code within a 'strong box' where it can execute safely by storing code keys away from vulnerable servers and vital software in a separate server.
nCipher claimed even an attacker with access to the server would still be unable to steal the all important code keys, thus protecting sensitive information from manipulation, spoofing or copying.
