Worm has turned on Linux community

The first ever worm written for the Linux operating system, named Ramen, has been found in the wild, infecting websites including NASA and Taiwanese semiconductor company Supermicro, according to Kaspersky Lab.

This makes Ramen the first ever Linux-based worm to be reported outside of the laboratory environment.

According to Kaspersky Lab, Ramen exploits known faults in the Red Hat Linux OS - faults for which patches do exist. The worm causes websites to display the words "Hackers loooooooooooooooooove noodles".

Previously, hackers have concentrated most of their attention on Microsoft operating systems, with Linux enjoying the support of the developer community.
