Irish security vendor Baltimore has re-entered the FTSE 100, which has been updated today to reveal a continued resurgence of technology stocks.

South African outsourcer Dimension Data broke into the top 50 and telecoms testing company Spirent also made the list.

Just five new companies entered the FTSE at its latest quarterly review, with traditional companies such as Corus (formerly British Steel), Rolls Royce and brewers Scottish and Newcastle falling out.

Outside the top 100, newly floated internet bank Egg was ranked 161.
