VeriSign has launched a range of trust and security services designed for wireless ecommerce.
The technologies on offer include mini digital certificates and code embedded in mobile devices to allow them to send and receive encryption keys, digital certificates and digital signatures.
The company is also utilising gateway-assisted SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) to enable network service providers to improve mobile security by substituting wireless certificates for SSL certificates.
VeriSign has combined the technologies into a number of specialist wireless security offerings for business to business, business to consumer, developer, service provider and individual use.
The offerings are support by a network of 22 alliances, including BellSouth, RSA Security and Sonera SmartTrust.
