The UK IT Security Evaluation and Certification Scheme (ITSec) has published its biannual certified product list. Within the list for the first time is a product from smartcard vendor, Mondex.
The scheme independently tests and evaluates the security levels of UK IT systems and products, and runs in partnership with similar schemes in France, Germany, Canada and the US.
October's edition includes an E6 rating - the highest level available - for Mondex's electronic cash software, Purse Release 2.0, and the company's smartcard operating system, Multos Version 3.
According to ITSec, the product will set the standard for the development and independent certification of smartcard schemes.
