Microsoft reveals smart card tool kit

Microsoft has released details of Windows software designed for smart cards.

Bill Gates was speaking at the Smart Card 99 Business Development conference in Redmond when he released details of the technology which will be based around the Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) standard.

Gates proclaimed that smart card technology will be central in the creation of more secure, innovative business systems.

More information about the technology will be released before the end of 1999 at http://www.microsoft.com/smartcard .
