The International Telecommunications Union has finally ratified the standard currently used by vendors for 56K modems.
The proposal, initially agreed upon in February, guarantees universal compatibility for all V.90 modems.
Lisa Pelgrim, senior analyst at research house Dataquest, claimed users would be better protected by the standard and predicted an increase in sales in the last quarter of the year.
