A group calling itself 'Hacking for Girlies' has caused the Web site of The New York Times to be shut down.
US reports claim the hackers left offensive remarks about members the newspaper's staff. The site was taken down so it could be secured.
The group claims to support imprisoned hacker Kevin Mitnick, who has been serving time on computer-related fraud charges.
