Mostly affects cheap mass-produced AMD based desktop PCs such as my HP Compaq SR1519.

After fixing the WinXP registry, this PC is now running WinXP SP3 smoothly.

Search the web for: "Intelppm" "SP3" problems; look at Jesper's blog.

Some higher-end PCs are affected by other problems.

The WinXP registry "fix" is technically easy, but beyond the skills of many home users of these PCs:

Many affected PCs will probably go for "land-fill"!

Business PCs and laptops are less likely to be affected by these problems.

I suggest that owners of AMD based PCs wait for a few weeks until Microsoft releases an updated version of WinXP SP3.
