I, like many under-dogs, have been looking at Linux:

Especially the version for multi-media production - Dyne:Bolic Linux. This really does promise "power to the people!"

Another version will soon offer multi-media professionals 64 bit tools.

Other versions such as DSL linux can run very happily even on an old 486 PC.

Even booting straight from a "live CD" version of Linux provides enough for many people.

Why bother about MS Vista or Apple Leopard?
