Microsoft squares up to EC investigation

"Non, Je ne regrette rien"...

By Julian Goldsmith

Published: 7 November 2001 09:17 GMT

Microsoft is about to draft a detailed rebuttal to the European Commission in anticipation of an investigation into anticompetitive practices by the company on this side of the Atlantic, due to start next week.

The statement will reject accusations that it deliberately misled the regulator, according to the Financial Times.

It will also point out that a number of the EC's concerns have already been addressed in Microsoft's existing settlement with the US Department of Justice.

The rebuttal will be discussed with the EC next month.
