Tech tycoons dominate thirtysomething rich list

e-yuppies take rich list by storm...

Despite the doom and gloom in the technology sector young and upwardly mobile tech tycoons still top the list of the highest earners.

A Fortune survey published yesterday revealed that nine out of the top ten highest earning under forties all made their money in the technology sector. Top of the list is Michael Dell, still only 36 and steering his company through a trough in the PC market, he has an estimated personal fortune of £11.7bn.

Jeff Bezos, the man behind Amazon.com, makes fifth spot his own - with £849m to his name, or £23m for every one of his 37 years.

The full top ten, looks like this, with a token sportsman sneaking in at number ten:

1. Michael Dell, Dell Computers, (36 years old) - £11.7bn
2. Pierre Omidyar, eBay, (34) - £3.03bn
3. Jeff Skoll, eBay, (36) - £1.82bn
4. Ted Waiit, Gateway, (38) - £1.29bn
5. Jeff Bezos,. Amazon.com, (37) - £849m
6. Vinny Smith, Quest Software, (37) - £539m
7. David Filo, Yahoo!, (35) - £504m
8. Jerry Yang, Yahoo!, (32) - £498m
9. Rob Glaser, RealNetworks, (39) - £439m
10. Dan Snyder, Washington Redskins, (36) - £417m
