The company also announced a collaboration with RealNetworks in which both companies will market a variety of streaming applications based on RealNetworks' streaming media. In addition, a collaboration with Widevine Technologies is to provide an encrypted edge to delivery of streaming media.
Amit Pandey, senior director of content delivery marketing at Network Appliance, said enterprises face many challenges with increased network usage and remote access locations and that Network Appliance is looking for ways to tackle LAN and WAN bottlenecks.
"This solution will enable IT administrators to control and manage tens to hundreds of locations easily and reduce network overload with bandwidth management features," Pandey said.
Last week, Network Appliance announced that results for its fiscal fourth quarter, ending 27 April, will fall well below estimates.
