Cadcentre Group, the engineering software specialist, has announced the £1.5m acquisition of advanced engineering databases and data management software. The systems were developed by a technical alliance consisting of engineering and construction firm, Kvaerner, and owner operator, E I DuPont de Nemours.

The technology - marketed under the name 'Vantage' - will provide data management facilities for process plant engineering and operating companies. In addition, Vantage possesses Oracle-based open architecture which will support flexible links to other third-party and existing corporate systems via open APIs.

Richard Longdon, Cadcentre Group CEO, said: "The key to successful project execution is the effective management, communication and utilisation of a single, consistent source of information using proven, stable, open and highly automated technology. The Vantage results will streamline operations and reduce costs... to make an integrated engineering IT environment possible."

Vantage has already has a proven track-record in more than 80 major engineering projects worldwide. David White, executive vice president of IT for Kvaerner, insisted: "With its unrivalled functionality, we believe the system will also be attractive to a large number of companies."

Under the terms of the agreement, Cadcentre purchased the intellectual property rights and existing user contracts and will market and support the Vantage technology worldwide through its global office network.
