Sun and Sybase team up to help developers

By Suzanna Kerridge

Sun Microsystems and Sybase are joining forces to enable developers to build applications which allow mobile workers to access corporate networks from handheld devices.

Sybase will embed Java interfaces into its UltraLite and SQL Anywhere Studio suite of development tools. UltraLite's deployment features provide an SQL database engine for consumer and embedded devices.

Mark Tolliver, president of the consumer and embedded division at Sun, claims the deal will make it easier for users to update and deploy database applications.
