Bigger revenues and "mega vendors" in 2007, analysts predict

The business intelligence (BI) market is predicted to be worth €1.5bn by the end of the year with competition between vendors hotting up.

The market will get tougher in 2007 with revenues from "mega vendors" - such as Microsoft, Oracle and SAP - predicted to grow three times faster than revenues from the business intelligence pure-players over the coming year, according to analyst house Gartner.

Andreas Bitterer, research vice president at Gartner, said while BI is recognised as a strategic priority by CIOs, it is not well understood among company employees and an increased focus on training is crucial in 2007.

Business intelligence will grow steadily over the next couple of years with the market revenue increasing at an annual compound growth rate of 9.7 per cent to reach €1.9bn in 2010, Gartner predicts.
