The Welsh Development Agency (WDA) has announced that BT, Manpower and One2One are to set up call centres in Wales.
BT's £9.5m call centre will be located in Nantgarw and will open in January 2001. By March of the same year, the centre will employ over 800 people, bringing the number of people employed by BT in Welsh call centres to 2,600.
Manpower and CRM specialist, 7C, have joined forces to build Wales' first ebusiness park to provide services via voice, fax, email and the Internet to dot-com start-ups.
Mobile operator, One2One, will spend £12.7m to create its largest UK call centre in the region.
The news follows a raft of similar announcements in the last year by companies such as Cable & Wireless, HSBC and Lloyds, which has seen the number of people employed in Welsh call centres grow to almost 11,000.
