The US Army's 159th Combat Aviation Brigade will begin taking delivery of the UH-60M - the latest generation of its widely used medium-lift utility helicopter, next month. With the M version, the Sikorsky-built Black Hawk now comes with a digital avionics suite that makes use of embedded GPS/INS (Global Positioning System/inertial navigation system) technology for what the Army calls "situational awareness" and of PC Cards for downloading flight information. The brigade, part of the 101st Airborne Division, is expected to receive 30 of the new Black Hawks by May 2008.
