Oracle set to open China support centre

Expect future expansions in Asia-Pac, it says

Oracle is opening a support centre in China. The Dalian Global Support Center will not only service China, Korea and Taiwan but also future expansions in Asian Pacific, the company said.

It will be one of Oracle's 18 global service centres around the world. Dalian service representatives will possess language skills in Korean and Mandarin, in addition to being versed in Oracle applications, middleware and database software.

Dalian is located in northern China roughly equidistant from Beijing and Pyongyang in North Korea.

The opening is part of Oracle's push to expand its presence, products and services to more cities in China, one of the fastest growing economies in the world. In a March report, IDC predicted IT spending in China will increase by as much as 14 per cent in 2006.
