John Major appointed to board of Siebel Europe

Ex PM goes CRM - Not inconsiderably agreeable...

Former Prime Minister John Major has been appointed to Siebel Systems' European board of directors as the company signals its intention to get involved in the e-government market.

Siebel and other vendors are heavily targeting the government market, which offers larger and longer contracts than the private sector.

The company has already announced a large deal with Leeds City Council, and is actively targeting other local and national government organisations.

Major joins an impressive roster of European political heavyweights on Siebel's new European board, including former Italian PM Giuliano Amato, Senior Mitterand aide Jacques Attali, and Helmut Kohl advisor Dr. Horst M. Teltschik.
