Autonomy enters, Baltimore exits FTSE 100 index

Artificial intelligence company Autonomy has made it into the FTSE 100 index of leading companies, after FTSE's quarterly review of entrants.

Autonomy listed on the London Stock Exchange in October, making it eligible to be tracked in the FTSE.

Other tech stocks did not fare so well in the latest appraisal. As widely expected, companies leaving the FTSE 100 included Irish security firm Baltimore Technologies, systems integrator SEMA Group and optical networks company Bookham Technology.

The news completes a ping-pong year for Baltimore, which first made it into the FTSE at the height of the high-tech boom in March. It then fell out in June, only to re-appear in September after a short-term resurgence in technology stocks.
