Dialogic to expand PBX product range

Intel has sealed a deal that will allow its telephony subsidiary, Dialogic, to expand its global portfolio of private branch exchange (PBX) system products.

The chipmaker is to purchase Voice Technologies Group (VTG), a privately held company, for an undisclosed sum.

Intel said the deal will give Dialogic leading-edge capabilities and features to enable most PBX systems to work with its computer telephony server systems and IP gateways - equipment used to link up with the Internet.

Howard Bubb, president of Dialogic Corporation, said the acquisition of VTG will help Intel and Dialogic significantly add to the computer telephony and Internet building blocks the companies offer.

Intel hopes the deal will boost Dialogic's ability to integrate applications such as call centre applications, IP telephony and unified messaging (combining voice, data, fax and email) with PBX systems.
