Wireless boost unearthed for Canadian oil and gas

By Polly Raymond

Published: 11 February 2000 15:36 GMT

Two wireless technology companies have signed a reselling agreement to supply Canada's oil and gas industry with wireless data services.

Interprovincial Satellite Services (Intersat) signed a Wireless Data Services Alliance with Crimtech Services allowing it to resell Intersat's IP Anywhere wireless data services.

The partners have already signed up with an unnamed Canadian oil and gas producer for a trial installation of the service.

Intersat claims its IP Anywhere technology is suited to the oil and gas sector because it allows the extension of Internet access beyond the desktop PC to all electronic devices commonly used in this field.
