The salesforce automation software market will soar to $5bn by 2003 as ecommerce becomes more popular and companies look beyond traditional channels to win and retain customers, according to IDC.
IDC's latest research shows that SFA (Sales Force Automation) software's ability to help companies share information more efficiently on a global scale, as well as integrate marketing databases is rapidly increasing its popularity.
IDC claims the US leads deployment of SFA software, accounting for more than 71 per cent of its revenue last year.
Siebel Systems is the leading vendor, being the only company with a double-digit market share, according to Judy Hodges, director of the CRM research program at IDC.
