Oracle spends $8.7m on data mining tools vendor

Oracle is to acquire Carleton Corporation in a deal worth $8.7m.

The two companies have signed a definitive agreement, which will see the leading database provider acquire Carleton by giving its shareholders $2.45 for each share.

Carleton's technology - which currently focuses on mainframe data extraction tools for data warehousing applications - will be incorporated with Oracle's Warehouse Builder.
