ERP (enterprise resource planning) vendors are set to dominate the CRM market within the next four years, according to a report by AMR Research. It also predicts that the global market will be worth $16.8bn by 2003.

The report, entitled Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Software Report 1998 to 2003, sees CRM becoming an increasingly strategic part of business practice and a key to increased revenues.

Traditional ERP vendors such as Oracle and Baan will gradually come to dominate the market by acquiring smaller CRM specialists. At present the top vendors are Siebel, Vantive and Clarify.

The report also predicts growth in CRM in Europe of 53 per cent each year with the European market value reaching $4.3bn by 2003.
