Database company Informix today announced a handful of contract coups and product announcements reflecting its growing focus on the media industry.
One contract, with Spanish TV company Telecinco, requires Informix to supply a digital media archiving system. Informix's Media360 product - which was also unveiled today - will help Telecinco improve its archive material and protect intellectual property.
According to Informix, Media360 is an asset management database that addresses crucial business problems encountered by every organisation that needs to create, store and distribute content.
Informix has also partnered with two other vendors, SGI and Virage, to create a media asset management system for media network CNN. The system will help reporters and producers collect, share and broadcast live news feeds across a company's global networks.
