EC ponders EDS call centre takeover

By Aled Herbert

Published: 9 September 1999 12:20 BST

The EC has received formal notification of the proposed takeover of call centre service company, Teleclient, by EDS and Telex.

The commission will examine both companies' European market share and assess any objections to the deal.

The proposal, which was put before the EC's Merger Task Force on 27 August, will be considered during a routine 30-day review.

Barring any need for a further four-month investigation, the takeover will be given the green light on 28 September.
