Sybase and Silicon Graphics (SGI) are teaming up to develop tailored data warehouses for specific vertical markets.
The two companies intend to target the financial services, telecommunications, pharmaceutical and insurance industries.
The partnership will also jointly develop and optimise new 64-bit versions of Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) and Adaptive Server IQ (ASIO) for SGI's IRIX operating system.
Wayne Eckerson, senior consultant, Patricia Seybold Group, said that data warehouse customers are now looking for industry-focused offerings, and that Sybase and SGI have established a "milestone towards providing true packaged analytic application solutions".
