NASA has chosen Tumbleweed to set up an electronic procurement system.
Tumbleweed will provide NASA with software to help eliminate manual tasks when exchanging supply contracts, and to streamline vendor selection.
NASA already accepts postings from potential suppliers on an internal Web site. Tumbleweed will expand this to include email, electronic contracts, workgroup tools and digital signatures, in an Electronic Request For Proposals (E-RFPs) pilot.
One NASA Business Systems Manager, Bob Brummett, said he chose Tumbleweed because it did not complicate NASA's existing technological infrastructure.
